Executives with Las Vegas Sands Corporation announced that they would restart construction on a planned hotel alongside their casino in suburban Philadelphia. Editorial: Ken Uston - GamblingPlanet Guide
Rss-
With his talent, intelligence and charisma, Ken Uston was destined for success. He could have been a financial wizard, and did work for a time at the Pacific Stock Exchange during the 1960s. He could have been a professional musician, and was a prominent jazz piano player in the San Francisco area. He could have been a best-selling author, and did sell many of his books on his favorite subject.
What Ken Uston is known for more than anything, though, is his track record at card counting.

Ken Uston
Mon, 02/22/2010 - 06:58 — Bill Kaplan (not verified)Before founding the MIT Blackjack Team in 1980 and leading it through the 80's and 90's, I started my first blackjack team in Las Vegas in the fall of 1977. At the time, Ken Uston played on a Vegas-based team run by Al Francesco, which served as the foundation for Uston's successful BJ book, "Million Dollar Blackjack." When I first met Ken and Al, their team was betting $100 chips using a "Big Player" strategy where the "spotters" (i.e. low betting card counters) would count down the tables and call in the Big Players when the count was in the player's favor.
Meanwhile, my teammate and I were just starting out, betting dollar chips based on our $2,000 capital stake. The opportunity to ever bet $100 stakes seemed inconceivable to me! Ken's suggestion at the time was to prove to ourselves that we could win at the game and then continue building our team so that we could leverage both player resources and a larger capital pool.
Six months later, my team had grown into double figures, was betting $100 chips on a sizable capital base, and was on its way to becoming the most feared team in Las Vegas. Seeing Ken and Al's successful team in action coupled with their reassuring advice whenever I ran into them inspired me to build my first team. My Vegas-based team's successful run from 1977-1980 led me eventually to found and lead what became known as the MIT Blackjack Team, which ruled the casinos during the next two decades. I'm sorry Ken never got to read the book, "Bringing Down the House", or see the movie "21" so he could see the success and worldwide notoriety spawned by his words of advice so many years ago.

Blotter: Michigan casino dealer school accepts Ohio students
Rss-
With the passing of the referendum in Ohio to allow for casino gaming, along with the new facilities' expected opening dates in two years, many residents of the Buckeye State are crossing the border into Michigan to get training and experience as casino dealers. Michigan has had Native American casinos for nearly twenty years, and Detroit-area gambling halls have flourished for more than a decade.05-Jan-2010, 10:13

Pure Vegas Casino Review
Pure Vegas is a very fitting name for an online casino and while this casino was just recently launched, there's plenty to be very excited about.
There are over 150 games (powered by Real Time Gaming) that offer both great graphics and fast game play. The online casino also offers players a nice instant play feature that makes it very easy to give the software a try. You are literally only a three clicks away from playing and thanks to the "Play Money" option you can have a look around before you deposit some real cash.
Impressive Number of Jackpots
Even though the casino is very young, they have an impressive number of Progressive Jackpots that keep growing every second. Other games include the very familiar table games (Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Baccarat, Pai Gow Poker etc.), Classic Slots, Video Slots, Video Poker and other games like Bingo, Keno and Scratch Cards.
Clean Website
The website is clear, easy to use and you will enjoy it just like the stellar casino software. Customer support is available 24/7 through phone, email and live chat and U.S. players will be happy to know that they are welcome at Pure Vegas Casino.
Great Exclusive Bonus
As for the bonuses, players are eligible to get 100% match bonuses up to $800 on their first three deposits, meaning that a total of $2400 is obtainable through the Welcome Bonus. Weekly Bonuses, Weekend Bonuses and special game bonuses (Blackjack & Slots) are also available and there's also a VIP structure in place that will reward the high rollers with cash back, casino points and special table limits.
Last but not least, thje great exclusive bonuses for Gambling Planet visitors with $10 for free if you use the code "SIMPLECASH" or a 100% bonus match up to $900 if you use the code "TOTALCASH".
All in all, we are very impressed by this brand new casino. We'd like to see more language options - especially for the website - but if that is the only drawback, Pure Vegas Casino is off to a very good start.

Blotter: Polish gambling crackdown officially begins
Rss-
When Polish Prime Minister Tusk promised reform after this year's Blackjack-Gate gambling scandal, he clearly wasn't just appeasing a concerned population. Hot on the heels of several upper-level political resignations, the Polish parliament drafted a slew of new legislation that severely restricts existing and future Polish gambling endeavors. On Friday, an overwhelming majority of parliament voted to make those proposals law later this year.

Lola - is it not also
Fri, 12/11/2009 - 15:14 — Stefan K (not verified)Lola - is it not also correct that the casinos which paid the minister are recieving the best from this scandal? The new laws essentially cut off their competition...hardly punishment.

few issues
Fri, 11/27/2009 - 19:36 — LolaThere are few issues here. First of all today the President signed the bill but - as he is from political circles opposite to the ruling government - he also commanded it is checked legally by the constitutional tribunal. It takes time but since he signed it anyway means the regulations will probably come into life on 1.1.2010. These include mainly tax issues for gambling industry.
Second is "why?" the government is taking such fast pace on the restrictions towards gambling. The official premise is that they want to clarify it legally. Obvious. I am, however, thinking about the fact that in EU there is a free flow of services and having a bill that states gambling entities need to be registered in Poland, and have all financial issues handled in Poland might be slightly infringing it...We will see the outcome.
Among other comments there is the "need" to establish clear regulations concerning access to the casinos for the youth...Very noble. What is more, in a country where over 300 people were arrested in a football betting scam, it makes press.
The fact is though that next year we've got presidential elections and the current PM will most likely run for it...Yes, votes in times of crisis are priceless.
I might be simplifying the issue but that's my point of view.

If you're a blackjack or poker fan then you probably think that you know the classic 52-card deck pretty well. You know the cards, you know the hand rankings, you might even know the odds of getting each of those hands, but we're willing to bet that there are some card facts your casino experience hasn't taught you.
