When Polish Prime Minister Tusk promised reform after this year's Blackjack-Gate gambling scandal, he clearly wasn't just appeasing a concerned population. Hot on the heels of several upper-level political resignations, the Polish parliament drafted a slew of new legislation that severely restricts existing and future Polish gambling endeavors. On Friday, an overwhelming majority of parliament voted to make those proposals law later this year.
While some of the new laws are just standard procedure — like a gambling ban for anyone under the age of 18 — other laws will seriously affect the Polish gambling industry — like a ban on all slot machines currently in use outside of government approved casinos. On November 30, the laws will go before Polish President Kaczynski for final approval.
