Casino Affiliate Convention to be Held in Moscow

Ticonderoga Ventures, Inc. announces its first Eastern European Casino Affiliate Convention taking place June 7-8, 2008 in Moscow, Russia. It is a business event on internet marketing and advertising methods for the casino, poker, bingo and sportsbook industry for Eastern European nations and languages.

Affiliate managers in the gaming industry have taken notice that a higher percentage of affiliates from Eastern Europe tend to perform better and are more likely to be high revenue producing affiliates (known as Super Affiliates) than affiliates from other regions.

888 Gaming Revenue Rises Again

Online gaming firm 888 said on Wednesday the first quarter of 2008 started well with a 38% rise in net gaming revenue and growth has continued into the second quarter, driven mainly by casino and bingo games.

It said net gaming revenue, a key performance indicator, rose to $64 million from $47 million in the same period of 2007 and was up 3 percent on the previous quarter. Last month, Chief Executive Gigi Levy said he hoped the company would achieve 30% revenue growth for the full year, helped by its new sports betting and bingo sites.

"Our various business initiatives are progressing well and we are therefore confident in delivering future growth during 2008," Levy said in a trading statement on Wednesday.

Playtech Revenues Up 97%

Online gambling software provider Playtech reported a 97% jump in first-quarter revenue and said it is highly confident regarding its performance for 2008 and beyond.

Revenues rose to $39m in the quarter ended 31 March compared with $19.8m last year. The group's Casino business continued to show strong growth, with revenues up 79% year-on-year to $27.2m. Poker revenues jumped 161% to $11m compared to the same quarter in 2007.

The growth in revenue during the first quarter has continued into April, Playtech said, with over 9% growth in revenues over the monthly average revenues in the first quarter of 2008. The group also expects to sign additional new licensees during the year which it said should further strengthen its revenue generation in the future.

PartyGaming Revenue Up on Casino Earnings

Strong growth at the casino business was largely responsible for a 21% hike in first quarter revenues at PartyGaming, the online gambling group admitted Wednesday. Group revenue jumped to $128.9m in the first three months of the year, up from $106.2m in 2007 and 6% higher than the previous quarter, helped by 45% year-on-year revenue growth to $43.5m at Casino.

Poker revenue rose 13% to $80.7m, while sports betting revenue was 4% better at $4.7m, but total average gross daily revenue fell 1% in the 4 weeks ended 28 April to $1.75m.The company said this reflects the start of the seasonally quiet period of the year, which has seen slightly weaker Poker, but a better than expected casino business.

EU criticises Italy's first online gambling regulation

Following the Italian Economy Ministry’s submission of its draft online gambling law to the individual members of the EU and to the European Commission (EC)at the beginning of the year, it fell to the EC to respond with its own detailed comments. Unsurprisingly, Brussels found several things to dislike in the controversial text.

In a letter sent by the EC to the Italians, there are three key areas where the Commission has shown its disapproval, or rather its “doubts”: particularly it singles out the cost of the licence, the requirement for operators to connect their systems to the government central database, and the requirement for operators to have reached a certain level of betting turnover in the past to be eligible to request a licence.
