Alderney - New Popular Online Casino Destination

The passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act into law in the United States has meant that online casino companies are looking to set up further afield, with Alderney, in the Channel Islands, among the most popular destinations.
Several online companies have shown themselves to be ahead of the game, with operators such as Cryptologic having been based in Alderney for several years already. Alderney is a small island just off the northern coast of France, and is a British crown dependency.
Now other casinos seem to be following Cryptologic's lead, as the exodus from America begins to pick up.
'Significantly, a number of enquiries received recently are from US companies looking for a European base,' said Norson Harris, managing director of Kensington Corporation, a Guernsey company which advises online businesses about gaming license issues.
John Godfrey, chair of the island's regulatory body, the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, commented: 'The commission has positioned itself to offer a regulatory environment that is likely to attract operators who seek a tightly controlled regime, but one that is flexible and sensitive to commercial realities.'
