Lesser Known Casino Games

Although at GamblingPlanet we devote the lion's share of our attention to online casinos, along with the frequent nod to online poker,  'classic' games such as blackjack, slots, roulette, and even Texas Holdem can hog a bit of the headlines. If you're wondering, however, what lies beyond these attention-grabbers or looking to try to something new, we offer below a quick glimpse into what's currently fresh and perhaps relatively unknown in both live and online casinos.

Table Games

Three card poker has been generating a low buzz lately. The three-card concept is nothing new—Britain's Brag has been around for well over a hundred years—but lately the game has been branching out. There's even a popular American bar variant whose common name is a bit too improper to mention here. If you're looking for 3 Card in a casino, you'll find it under the names of Ante-and-Play and Pairplus (if you find it at all). In Ante-and-Play, you compete against the dealer, whereas in Pairplus payouts are determined by a set paytable and are only awarded for a pair or better. Neither of these games require much skill, but with online poker rooms expanding their offerings we wouldn't be surprised if the barroom variant—which is much truer to traditional poker rules—finds its way to the virtual felt.

Slots

There are literally hundreds of different slots titles available to online players, with more being introduced on a daily basis. It would be impossible for us to highlight them all, but it's hard to ignore the big numbers that bonus game slots are drawing. Bonus games were first introduced by video slots. Walk through any casino these days, and you'll see a big senior population crowding these machines, holding their breath as the bonus symbols whiz buy on their animated reels. The Wheel of Fortune slots really revolutionized these games, offering slot players not only a big bonus but a far more interactive experience and one of the first TV/slots crossovers. The graphic capabilities of online slots have taken them to a whole new level, and the merger between slots and pop icons has been fully realized by companies like CryptoLogic who is expected to release a new addition to their Marvel Superheroes series some time this year. Here are some other new slots titles to try: The Lumber Cats, Mega Moolah, Jewels of the Orient and Wealth Spa.

Video Poker

Brand new in September is the Microgaming video poker variant Double Joker Poker Level Up. It introduces a new concept to video poker games by allowing especially skilled players to increase their payouts by “leveling up” through consistent wins. The game also features a random “double or nothing” bonus. Check it out at Microgaming casinos like Spin Palace.

Poker

What Gambling Planet game review would be complete without at least a sneak peek at what's new in the world of poker? Absolute Poker and UltimateBet are playing host to a new Holdem variation, the once relatively obscure 7-Deuce game. Best known as the worst hand in Texas Holdem, at participating poker rooms a win with a 7-Deuce hand can now earn you a significant side pot.
