The two alleged leaders of a multimillion-dollar sports bookmaking ring that operated out of a poker room at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey, were among 24 people indicted Thursday by a NJ state grand jury.
Attorney General Anne Milgram said the ring operated for 20 months, taking in $60 million in bets. Authorities say the casino itself was not involved, however. The ring was busted in November when a multi-agency investigation dubbed Operation High Roller led to the arrests. The indictment charges the alleged leaders with racketeering, conspiracy and money laundering, as well as third-degree promoting gambling.
