Sportingbet and Bwin End Merger Talks

Online gambling firm Sportingbet has ended merger talks with Austrian gaming company Bwin after being hampered by a series of legal and regulatory hurdles. The talks, which were announced on March 7 2007, have been terminated “mutually and amicably” Sportingbet said in a statement.
The UK-listed company, which owns Paradise Poker and also runs sports betting and casino sites, added that talks had been “constructive” but that the two companies could not find middle ground.
The termination of this latest deal follows Ladbrokes' decision to drop takeover talks with 888.com in April.
